Leo McKnight, February 21, 1963
Leo McKnight was an employee of murdered civil rights activist Louis Allen of Amite, Mississippi. On the eve of February 21, 1963 he, his wife, pregnant daughter and son-in-law, all perished in a suspicious house fire after being warned by racist Deputy Sheriff Daniel Jones to stop their civil rights activities.

What was Mr
McKnight age, the names and the ages of his wife, daughter and his son-law? Were the deaths investigated?
According to public census data from 1940, McKnight and his wife Mary would have been about 80 when they were killed. I haven't been able to ascertain whether it was his daughter Marjorie or Mildred, but either would have been mid-30s. As far as I know, no investigation was done. The DOJ file on the murder of Louis AllenFile No. 144-41-3509 says that a witness said Dennis Hawkins threatened his loved ones being "all burned up like Leo McKnight." May they rest in power.
The son in law was my uncle and his name was Willie James Felder. His wife was Eunice McKnight-Felder
In a newspaper article, it states that they suspect Daniel Jones, the sheriff, of setting the fire as well as killing Louis Allen. It's under findagrave: Louis Allen, Date of death: 1964, date of birth: 1919. If you open up all the pictures, there's an article there about the fire that Killed the McKnights and Felders.
